Why pavers sink, and why resetting alone does not hold

Pavers almost never fail on their own. What fails is the base: it was too thin, it was never compacted properly, or water found a path through it and carried the fines away.

Lifting the units and dropping them back on the same base is the repair most people are sold. It looks right for a season, then the same patch drops again, because nothing under it changed.

The four problems we see most in Tampa Bay

A sunken patch where a downspout discharges, and the base has been quietly washing out. An edge that has spread sideways because no restraint was ever installed. Joints emptying after every storm because the sand was never polymeric. And humps where a tree root has lifted the field.
